I have a white lilac tree, which has honeysuckle entwined around it. Although I tried to cut the honeysuckle back last year ,this year it has taken off ten fold, from all directions.
Does anyone know if it will eventually harm the lilac tree in any way ?

As long as the lilac is well established honeysuckle should not be a problem, just keep pruning the honeysuckle regularly.

Thanks Salmon. The lilac is very well established, however the honeysuckle is up to the top in parts . Do I prune it from the bottom or start climbing ?
