This is an interesting bit of news. Farm subsidies paid to the most wealthy. Another little earner for wealthy foreigners from our land.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37493956

One of the biggest surprises, as you scroll down is the Mormons ! Searching further, and there have been various articles about this , obviously a bone of contention with many over many years, it appears they own thousands of acres of best agricultural land in UK and use intensive farming. They have 180,000 members (probably more now)of the Mormon faith in UK, if they want to feed them that's a lot of land, and there shouldn't be any need for food banks either. What is their game, who are they and who is financing them ? Someone must be, and someone of huge wealth when we see what the LDS are spending their money on worldwide. Is this a takeover under the banner of religion I don't like it ! I suppose the membership is expected to rise, as they practice polygamy, making it an easy option ! Why should they be getting farming subsidies , along with many others who don't need it ?

In the meantime, EU members are still hacked off about our Brexit, and continue to be bitchy about any negotiations. They are really hacked off, mainly because we won't be keeping them afloat any longer.

Surprised church of England not listed as they have loads of land. Mormon one interesting--sounds like they have good investors and money managers

Storm over Mormon crop cash

The Mormon church owns thousands of acres in the UK

The Mormon church has denied reports suggesting their farms grow certain crops to reap EU subsidies for its US headquarters.

Roger Harrabin: "They attract agricultural subsidies totalling nearly £1m"
The church, which owns thousands of acres of farmland in Cambridgeshire, is set to receive £1m from Europe.

The church was reported in the Daily Mail as buying up land, with profits going back to the church's headquarters in Salt Lake City.

Farming in Crisis
But Clive Jolife, who runs the farms, said profits go to the church in England - which in turn distributes money to charity.

Clive Jolife denies that agricultural subsides finish up in Utah
The church recently donated £50,000 to help the victims of Hurricane Mitch in Central America, he said.

He added: "We have mainly cereal farms and the land is only suited to growing cereal crops.

"The last purchase was a root crop farm, growing potatoes and onions, therefore having no subsidy at all.

"And we have put together a pig herd - that's not dependent on subsidies.

"We are really trying deliberately to get away from subsidies."

Meanwhile, the European policy of awarding subsidies per acre is attracting increasing criticism from small farmers and wildlife groups.

Small farmers say the practice merely encourages huge agricultural companies to buy up more and more land in order to get extra European cash.

And wildlife groups say that the policy promotes intensive farming, which diminishes natural environments for many animals and plants.

Policy chief for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Jim Dixon, told BBC Radio 4's today programme: "At the moment the money that goes to the countryside goes to those that produce the most.

"What we need to do is change the whole basis of the policy so that we give the same amount of money to the farming community, but in a way which rewards those that look after the countryside and protect the countryside we all cherish."

Possibly the Church of England will have had the land for generations and it is not used for intense farming. Only a suggestion. Obvious that Mormons have bought to gain. Always a loop hole and lets hope Brexit unravels some of these modern day scams. It's quite possible that eventually the land price would grow to such a price that no one would be able to afford it, other than governments or huge foreign businesses, adding to their cv and giving complete control over our land. Another little plan out in place for the benefit of others in the future. I wonder if Germany owns any of our land and if she get subsidies ?
