I think its a thick headed fly (Conopidae).

There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. David Osland 2025

(insect , that is)

If it's French, KILL IT ! Good luck

Excellent, its lack of a sting threw me into thing it was a pretend wasp.

Its length depends if Snodvan was including the antenna in his/her measurements. They can be almost as long as the body, thereby doubling the length.

Nothing like the many locusts I have seen in Africa. I reckon it is the parasitic wasp. The 30mm I quoted was the body --- those long antenae add more

Besides being far too short for it to be a Locust The colour is completely different. The neck on a Locust is quite thick whilst the neck on this Wasp is almost none existent. Also it doesn't possess the heavy musculature of the Locust's hind legs.
I kept and fed Reptiles for many years and never saw a Locust that looked like this.

Sorry lashs, it's an Ichneumon Wasp.
