Hi Just wondering if any one has any information or stories/photo's on my grand father James Haywood Wensley (1896-1960)! he was mayor of Wallasey in 1951/52 ? We have a beautiful portrait of him in his mayoral attire, from a few stories I remember he was a very giving man and gave of his time generously to the community. Thanks for any help

1950/51 James Haywood Wensley. OBE ;JP He is mentioned in the list of Mayors in this book. There maybe more mention somewhere, if you link the date to certain events during the year of office. http://www.historyofwallasey.co.uk/wallasey/Wallasey_Local_Government/index.htmland this; Alderman James Heywood Wensley, JP, Chairman, Cheshire Wing Consultative Committee, Air Training Corps. 1954 Birthday Honours https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1954_...he_Order_of_the_British_Empire_.28OBE.29

I have jotted your Grandads name down in my note-book as I am going to visit my 95 year old Grandad tomorrow. I wonder if he can remember anything? Will let you know. I hope he does as personal accounts are sometimes so much better than 'official sources'.
