Made the mistake of calling it an air show. Should have called it something else with a fly past. Just like Hoylake have done. Problem may be that not enough people left working at the Council. New Brighton has had Red Arrows and other air performances (wing walkers etc) in the past

It's more than likely that the Wirral Air Show is being run as a private event, and therefore the health and safety regulations would come under their control, which may have been revised, due to the accidents at air displays last year.
If Jumbo Ltd. are advertising it, then it's up to them and they would have to pay high fees to have the license agreement, car parking , and no doubt pay for the police presence etc. Cost in 2014 to hire Red Arrows, £15,000.
Overall, a lot of money involved to be paid out in advance. Jumbo Events Ltd, was only formed last August, so maybe they are a bit green when it comes to such events.
If it's a combined effort with the council, that is different, and as those who used to organise the events in the past e.g. Wirral show, have now left, maybe it's due to ignorance by new staff on procedures to be followed in such events.

So that's two air-shows they have thrown away. With overland air-shows being very limited now, the organisers will be looking for seaside locations and our council has thrown away the opportunity.
In reality, as soon as overland air-shows were limited, the council should have been looking at doing preparation and offering the location around. Forgot his name now (Bob?) but one of the council tourism officers a few years ago would have jumped all over this opportunity long before other councils.
There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. It's not a matter of "throwing away" air shows - the plans were submitted incomplete and at far too short notice for an event of the scale intended. It's a matter of safety, and it's not for the EAG to plan events for a private company - their role is to ensure that the submitted plans allow for a safe event. As Granny said - it IS a private company wanting to put on an event, they've simply not planned it properly. The council hasn't permanently put the kibosh on it, they've advised postponing it until it is properly planned.

I always think anything good for New Brighton is always Killed, the Wirral show, the kite festival, the motorcycle racing and the egg run. But hey ho lets keep opening more places to eat for the people that don't come anymore.
