With the link below, can anybody tell me how I can find out more, if there is any ?
The chap I am looking for, disappeared around 1856/7, his family of 4 children lived in Tranmere, although he was born in Kent. His name has been spelt incorrectly at times between Crafter and Crofter. This one is Crofter. It may not be the right person, but can't find any more bits to link or unlink. This period 1853 to 1856 was the period of the Crimea War. Can't work out where to go next, as keep getting the same info. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KCQG-DK2
Thank you for any help to direct me.

Cranky, thank you very much. You have the correct family and her husband Richard did not appear on 1861 census or indeed any subsequent one. That is the mystery and what I have been trying to find out. Family tales say that he and his partner in work, (whose wife was Mary Radcliffe and on one of your lists), took off one morning by carriage to go to work and never returned. Nobody knew really what the truth was, and all the family members that may have known are gone now. Sarah also lived in Queens Building, Queen Street, Tranmere in 1861 according to what I saw, but I thought Queens buildings was by Laird street, unless there was another one. Sarah at one time was a teacher at a Girls School on Old Chester Road, and also listed as a nurse at another time. all great fun, but bloody annoying. Thanks for all that. Any chance you can find anything out on Richard and Crimean War records? Being cheeky now

That's the one Bert. His father Richard came here with his family in 1840's for whatever reason and was proprietor at the Derby Arms Pub ,Rock Ferry for a number of years and later Chester Arms, Parkgate. He died in 1862.

Thanks for the link Helles. I have been looking through and there have been some enquiries in the past about 'Crafter', one of which was from a relation. The trouble is, there were so many Richards' scattered all over the place, it's hard to pin one down. Some don't have birth dates, some emigrated and back then they could have given false ages and names too, I suppose. Anyway, I will keep scouting and your link seems the best so far. Thank you.
Bert, thanks for your info. That has been very helpful in pin pointing his occupation. Knew all the details of Herbert's DOB but not daddy's occupation at that date. Probably Richard commanded more attention as we came from the line of his son Richard Andrew,(who had 12 children), rather than Herbert.
Too many Richards' and most are from different branches of the same family, both here and abroad. If we should catch up with the buggar, it will be a bit of an anti climax, as there will not be any more to search for. So although infuriating ,it's an enjoyable pastime.
