found this link to some amazing photographs from the 2nd WW .

None of them are gory or anything like that

mostly taken by a chap called alfred palmer. His style and quality of photography is astounding

Astonishing - it defies belief that they were taken 70 years ago - I couldn't get that quality now , in the so - called digital age !

Just stunning pictures, like the reel of wax string to complete wiring in switch gear panels.

I've still got some of that (well, mine's actually waxed nylon) which was used in the Polaris subs. My dad got it from Laird's.
