I've moved here ... now I want a local job!

I currently work from home (Wallasey) for an Essex based company, but am missing being in a real work place with real people, as such I'm now getting the feelers out for a local job.

I trained originally as an automotive engine management system specialist, and worked with complex electronics for many years (including designing and prototyping my own micro controller based devices, mostly using PIC's), as such I am of technical nature and have so far been able to turn myself to any job that involves computing, engineering or electronics.

Its a long-shot I appreciate, but I want to work locally with local people, rather than just being the Southerner at home, working for a Southern company.

I am doing that also, however it appears that most avenues are cul-de-sac's today, so yes, I need to scout far wider, and use longer, sharper feelers.

I know its a long shot but if you have spare time as well as working from home have you thought about voluntary work as it gets u meeting people and networking
