Great place this was, worse thing they ever did was do away with it and not rebuild it. Did any one go to the New Brighton Rock held here in the 80's?
I did - saw Madness, Nik Kershaw, Howard Jones, Eddie Grant and loads of others - it was great!! I have lots of fond memories of the baths - and some not so fond

I remember the new Brighton Rock, used to go down after school (St marys College) to get free tickets! Then was at an all night party the night it was televised!!
Great pics. I nearly drowned there in 1961. I was eight and jumped in from the right side of the diving board. It was my first time in a swimming pool and I didn't realise you had to learn swimming. A life guard got me out. Never knew who he was.
What great pictures of the baths, I went to the concert in 1984, I remember it well. I went when Nik Kershaw was on. It is a great shame that it wasn't re-built. But new things are happening in New Brighton now, which is great.
I don't suppose you have any information on a Joan Boardman who was Miss New Brighton in 1960 then went on to be Miss England, she came from Wallasey, she married a Jimmy Harris, I live in Canada and was a good friend of hers and would love to get intouch. Thank you. Josephine
