Hi all.
I have no idea when it comes to CB Radio's so will need abit of help. I am after one that can be used in a car and possibly one at home too.
If anyone has one for sale, or can give me information on them then Fantastic !
Thanks
Mark

The old cb radio's used the am frequency which they have in america and so were illegal in this country. The modern sets in this country now use the fm frequency and so are legal. So look for a fm unit. A mobile one is fine for home if you have a 12 volt power supply or spare car battery. You need a cb ariel and swr meter. Put the meter in between the two and adjust the tuning on the ariel to get the lowest reading. If you don't do this you will blow the output from transmitting with an untuned ariel. Then pick a nickname (handle) to use. Have a look on ebay, they have a few.

Hopefully the ariel fits, and wheels sells the CB to me. Then buy a SWR meter (so i don't blow the thing up) And away i go ! Thanks Guys ! We should set up a Wiki - Frequency ?

Is it better then the one wheels is offering ?
I have no idea about these, so will go off what others think it is worth
Sorry if thats hassle for you. But if i like it and the price is right i WILL buy it.

Sorry if thats hassle for you. But if i like it and the price is right i WILL buy it. The CB is at my mothers house at the moment as i moved out a while back it is a Cobra 148 and it it isn't just a basic 40 channel CB, this one you can speak to people around the world. The mic that comes with it has a roger bleep with the tone that most cobra CBs make. There is one on ebay at the moment in a bid at £51.01 with 2 days left so ile take £40

No it doesn't come with a aerial as i have the aerial on the side of my mothers house which is a sirio 827 aerial but if you wanted that then you would need to get someone to take it down as it is massive.
Not sure on the voltage maybe someone on here will know.

Okay Thank you One final question When can i buy it from you ? Thanks, and sorry for all the questions I would need to pick it up from my mums but if you wanted to take the aerial down from the side of the house then you could pick it up from there at the same time. You could also have the T&K brackets if you needed them. You may need two people to take it down and definitely ladders.

I just PM'd you WonderBoy !
but incase you didn't get it or don't see it:
Sorry i didn't reply to you quickly i have been ill the past few days and even the sight of a dull energy saving light bulb has hurt my eyes and head. I'm on the mend now but feel abit "Iffy" so want to give it afew days before i go out.
If you want to sell it on, please feel free. But if you still have it for when i am all fit and healthy then happy days as i will certainly still have everything.
Sorry and thanks for your patience
Mark

Not sure what to do here.
Ive sold the CB and aerial and he has taken the CB and paid for both. But he was having trouble removing the aerial from the house safely and now one of the U bolts have broken when they tried to remove it and it isn't 100% secure on the house now and don't want to leave it there in case the winds get worse.
Anyone know what i should do.

Give him a warning that you are about to use a hacksaw/angle grinder to remove it, if he ignores the warning then I can help you take it down - damage to "his" aerial will be on his head - as you say, it is in a dangerous situation and cannot be left.

Thanks so much mate, its really high and on two scaffolding poles. The thing is when he tried to take it down a U-Bolt snapped but if the other snaps then the whole thing will just smash down and take people fences with it.I think ile have to buy 2 new ones so i can slide the poles down so i can dismantle it. Its such a nightmare im sorry i put it up now.

What diameter pole is it 2" or smaller? I might have some u-bolts for temporary fix. If you rope it instead of the U-bolts then it can act as an automatic brake which is quite handy for lowering.
I have some longish ladders if need be, think they are about 23ft.
