when i got made redundant three years ago, I was still working 9 hrs in my second job, but still had to sign on every fortnight for job seekers related income, got no extra money because I was working. My grandson is going to big school in sept so my daughter has started having to sign on every week .They left her without any money for 3 weeks its only just come thro, so she has had to borrow money to feed the electric meter etc. She is special needs so I have recomended she see a special needs advisor as she will be limited to what jobs she can do. It is also hard for someone to get childcare , but they still expect her to take a job for at least 24 hours a week. By the time she pays childcare she will be no better off.

they give you no incentive to work. when i was working they still told me what ''the law says you need to live on'' they allowed me to keep £5.....good of them!!! so i still got the amount of money as i was getting on the dole plus £5!!! and when i got a rise at work everyone was pleased except me because i knew the housing benifit would take it by rising the rent and council tax......so i have to say you are no better off by working..............
