A good find Bert. Most interesting. It refers to Thingwall and Burntwood Santoria. (p.39) Where is/was Burntwood Sanatorium ??

Not sure Pinz, could do with a map up, around 1923.

There used to be a Sanitorium out Clatterbridge way I think. Maybe that was a later one. The Hospital there now may have replaced it. Got faint memories of it. TB sufferers used to be sent there, beds outside and all that guff.
Birkenhead........ God's own Room 101.

Yes, I think that's the one, Bert. "Cheshire Joint Sanitorium, opened 1923"

Didn't 'Burntwood Sanatorium' used to be a destination on the Crosville buses, or am I imagining it?!

Small misprint, top of page 40. I think it should be Grange Mount. Bri

The nearest location to Burntwood, Staffs. that Crosville ran to seems to be Market Drayton. K61 Nantwich-Market Drayton via Audlem K62 Nantwich-Market Drayton via Hankelow & Buerton K63 Nantwich-Market Drayton via Norton-in-Hales The above bumf is from a Crosville fleet book I have, printed in the 60's. Are you thinking of the F21 from Birkenhead that had "Cleaver Sanitorium" (Heswall) on the blind ? The only other one is the A52 Flint-Llangwyfan Sanitorium via Queensferry, Buckley & Mold. Hope this helps !

I used to work and live in the Psych Unit in Burntwood (in the nurses home I hasten to add). It was called St Matthews. It's been converted into luxury flats now
Sometimes Police Officers give more than just speeding tickets! Its hard to be fit as a fiddle when youre shaped like a cello!

You're right! That was the one!
Well, it was a long time ago!
