What went on fire the other day at Hamilton Square station causing some disrupting until it was extinguished?
I recall getting off there on one occasion years ago when there was a strong smell of burning. We were not allowed to use the lifts but had to ascend a long tunnel which emerged onto Shore road next to a substation there.
Am I right in thinking that once Shore Road had a power station designed to power the trains under the river? I vaguely recall a building there that looked like a power station, long since demolished but it may be my memory plating tricks.

Woodside Grid Substation is alive and well in Shore Road, it is behind the pump house. It supplies the smaller British Rail Shore Road substation and others.
There's a real danger that the left will drag Britain back to the 1970s, with secure well-paid jobs, ample housing, properly-funded NHS and social care, free tuition, student grants, final salary pensions, affordable rail fares and fabulous films and music. I have it in mind that there was a small power station there at one time.in Shore road or canning street. Am I right? I've completely forgotten but I don't think so, I suspect it was just transformers and switching gear even though it may have been called a power station. The four corners of the tower are chimneys but nothing on a full time generator scale, more like heating, local backup generators etc. There used to be a stubby chimney on the extended back of the building which was maybe a vent shaft. The substation has had a few incidents over the years.
