Thanks chaps. After trawling through scores of restaurant websites and menus and paying a visit to 5 finally bit the bullet and booked Red Fox out near Thornton Hough. Had a shortlist of 3 but whilst sampling a nice pint in the red fox booked on the strength of a woman walking out clutching a 60th Birthday balloon.. ! Unfortunately wont have the bus pass in time to get bus there..if indeed it has a passing service.
Must say some lovely places to scoff on the wirral. Only one i felt didnt quite live up to its hype having heard so many positives about it was The Refreshment Rooms. Didnt eat there so cant comment on the food. Done a good job in turning it back into a pub... the pensioners menu was ok but breakfast at £10 seemed bit ott.
Thanks for the Jug and Bottle recommendations..never knew it was there looks like a decent gastro pub with good real ale selection..will sample its food soon..

Fish I visited The Refreshments Rooms on Sunday not a place I had been to before, the breakfast was £7.95 which included toast and was more than big enough, So not sure about your £10.

Not a restaurant as such but a very nice tea room / cafe, good for light bites and a full English breakfast, Bluebells, The Grange, Grove Road, Wallasey, full English £4.95, very good.

£7.95 plus cup of tea £2 (or did you get the drinks included in the £7.95 ? not clear on menu ) Thought £12.95 for beer battered fish peas and chips was tadge on the high side. The weekday oldies menu wasnt bad Monday Tuesday Wednesday : Over 60's Special Menu 12 - 9pm
Smaller portions for the smaller appetite
2 Courses £9.95 3 Courses £11.95.

Thanks Caspar looks nice. saw tea room round corner near windsors Fleur de lhys or something like that. Missus partial to some afternoon tiffin !

And I was shocked at the price list at Number 7

The TAPAS KITCHEN appears to come out on top for Wirral according to trip adviser https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurants-g1420760-c36-Wirral_Merseyside_England.html
