Hi, all; new member here. Not a cruiser, but a little quiz for you. What's my car?
2.3 litre turbo
280 BHP
0-60, 6.5 sec.
Top speed (by satellite) 157 MPH (then I ran out of nerve)
Oh, & I'm 70 years old & still drive the Nürburgring in it!
Cheers, Chris.
Can i just guess the colour lol
Ive no idea but there a few who may know.
And a few that will be jealous your have done Nürburgring
2.3 Turbo at 70... I have an idea is it an older gentlemans type of car?
Is it a Volvo 850 T5-R? Didnt the plod use them?

Me grandad drove Volvo's most of his life, their not as bad as peeps make out, the fast ones are very fast!
was gonna say a fiesta st with the 2.3 litre thrown in from the mondeo (i think) - or as matty said, the volvo t5
i so want a fiesta st - pnather black with no stripes (can get better and cheaper custom ones made)
I'm goin with the T5 aswell.
Oh joy, a guessing game
Prolly a T5 or Saab with a bit of added boost up its arse to get it to 280bhp
Scrabble
is it a souped up mobility scooter
Turbo just kicked in - Yoooooo!!
LOL, well, that wasn't too difficult; most of you got it.
Yes, a 1996 Volvo 850T5 Estate & yes, the plod loved them.
Had a Rica re-map to raise the output from the standard 225 BHP & Koni FSD shockers. This engine is good for about 340 BHP; after that, it starts bending rods, but with forged rods, in excess of 400 BHP is possible.
My best Nordschleif time is 9.28
Cheers, Chris.

having given a T5 a fair thrashing on more than one occasion...i found the torque steer horrendous...whats it like with uprated power?...do the springs compensate at all?
The most significant reduction in torque steer is the addition of a strut brace (a standard Volvo accessory, so they knew the problem). The Koni FSD shocks improved it further & it's insignificant now, or maybe I'm just used to getting the power down!
i have to say the t5's id driven (indeed thrashed) were the later models...(2005 onwards) so its obviously a problem that volvo is aware of but put in the "too hard to sort out " tray.
Any car with an excess of 200 bhp going through the front wheels is gonna a bit of a handful imho!
Nice motorway crusiers though..and at the higher end very very quick!
are we going to see at the members meet?....1st of nov...?

Well, maybe; I looked at the thread. If I do come, the car may be filthy; for me, it's for driving, not polishing! Being a bit of a stranger to the territory these days, could you let me have the postcode?
