Eagle is still going about things the wrong way.

Angela is criticising Corbyn for not resolving the leadership problem, however, the ball is in her court, if she wants to challenge his leadership then it is not done through words, it is done through action - she knows the official process, it is her that is holding back not Corbyn.

There is no leadership battle at the moment. If she wants to develop any respect then she should do the challenge and stop faffing around.

As with most parties at the moment, there are no obvious leaders, Corbyn has got more going for him than anyone else in Labour.

Jeremy Corbyn
Angela Eagle
David Miliband
Hilary Benn
John McDonnell
Dan Jarvis
Clive Lewis
Tom Watson

"By the next election in 1992 the Labour Party machine moved against rebellious Wallasey Labour Party, expelled key activists and shut down the CLP so it couldn't decide on its candidate. Whilst the CLP was shut down Angela Eagle was imposed as the candidate."
So when Angela Eagle says "resolve the crises" let history give you guidance on what the Permanent political class actually mean.

On reflection I think Angela Eagle SHOULD stand. It'll be hilarious when she loses by a landslide.

And when she loses, that will be the signal for the breakup of the present Labour party: then you Marxists will have no chance of being part of a government.

Big scary word Marxism - very few people that use it know what it means, it is not a political stance, it is a method of analysis.

Its amazing how the right wing politicians (Conservative and Labour) find democracy so scary and they are so afraid of the left yet they swear the left is no perceivable threat.

I vote for those that have morals, this excludes 99% of capitalists.

Is a Marxist? a political stance, taken after studying Marxism. I truly believe Corbyn is a Marxist and not a method of analysis.

Before you attach a label to something or someone it would be wise to understand what it means, as dd already stated Marxism is a socioeconomic analysis/ theory later developed by his followers to form the basis of communism, or maybe the word communist was a tad to strong to use chris.
Posted By: chriskay Re: Angela Eagle - What Leadership Battle? - 5th Jul 2016 9:20am
What the word originally meant is irrelevant: it's what people understand it to mean now, even if that's not the same. I'll use Communist if you would feel easier with that (although I don't really care what you and your fellow-travellers think).

I personally don't see much difference between communism and so called democracy or any other form of governance (past and present).
They all end up with an elite core at the top who have control of most of the media and support of the wealthy and and use them to stay in power as long as they can to gain even more wealth.
Look at America and their political dynasties
Look at Russia Putin and his Oligarchs
Look at Britain and check who are millionaires in the parties and who owns the media

Most seem to pay lip service about inequality and a fairer distribution of wealth.

I'd like to know either way if there is a challenge and Jeremy Corbyn wins again will

1 The mps knuckle down and support him up to the next election (possibly if there is a snap election after the Tories select their leader) and if they lose then possibly a vote for a new leader then.

2 Will they break away to form a new party (splitting the Labour vote and more or less let the Tories in with a huge majority)

3 Will they be deselected and new members more to Jeremy Corbyns stance on austerity etc be put up for selection

I've avidly watched lots of interviews no-one has come up with
answer, all avoiding the question when asked

I personally think that they should be de-selected. But since when do politicians listen to party members?

While those on your ignore have been very tolerant towards your comments, you are in breach of our rules. These rules have always been in place forever and you have used the same rules im implementating back at you. Its not in the wiki spirit. Its also a huge waste of my time, cleaning up after such posts. And opening and closing your account at will, it all takes time. Come on Chris you do have alot of respect from so many members. I think it was because Chris didn't agree with the views of some wiki members and twice named those people he was going to put them on his ignore list instead of just pressing the ignore button without posting names.
Also said if his post was deleted he'd leave - which he's done.
I'll certainly miss him and his contributions he's made and could have made to the history section.

Thanks for your good wishes, casper. The future of the country needs to be taken seriously. I've nothing against the Labour party, at least before Blair got at it: what I object to is ANY party being led by a buffoon, which Corbyn clearly is, although I daresay he's a perfectly genuine guy, just not a leader.

Here are some extracts from Angela Eagle's voting summary that I find concerning (I've highlighted some) :-

Generally voted for use of UK military forces in combat operations overseas

Consistently voted for the Iraq war

Consistently voted against an investigation into the Iraq war

Generally voted for more EU integration

Voted a mixture of for and against a referendum on the UK's membership of the EU

Consistently voted against raising the threshold at which people start to pay income tax

Generally voted against higher taxes on alcoholic drinks

Generally voted against lower taxes on fuel for motor vehicles

Generally voted against encouraging occupational pensions

Generally voted against higher taxes on banks

Voted a mixture of for and against measures to reduce tax avoidance

Generally voted for university tuition fees

Generally voted against a transparent Parliament

Almost always voted against local councils keeping money raised from taxes on business premises in their areas

Generally voted against allowing national security sensitive evidence to be put before courts in secret sessions

Generally voted against a statutory register of lobbyists

I think the fact that there are 2 leadership challengers, Owen Smith and Angela Eagle (thus splitting the PLP vote) may mean that there may be a leak from the NEC saying that Jeremy Corbyn may have to get the required number of 51 mps to be in the running.
Wouldn't surprise me if this is the case, that if possible the really big hidden heavyweights will then throw their hats in the ring as contenders somehow

That well and truly shows up the Corbyn supporters. Not a good advert for them or him either. How do these people always manage to shoot themselves in the foot ? Anyone who is likely to be a Corbyn supporter, will be highly unlikely to admit it. A bit like Farage supporters, who were blacklisted for so long because of hypocrisy and belittlement . Or the Tory supporters who have constantly been ridiculed for supposedly, supporting the 'posh' party.
Well, the boots on the other foot. What an absolute disgrace.

This is not democratic!

"But there is good news for anti-Corbyn MPs. Non-Labour members wishing to vote in the contest this time will have to pay £25, not £3 as last time.

The ability to vote so cheaply in the election last time was regarded as part of why Corbyn won, with backers of more left wing parties able to influence the outcome.

Members must also have been in the party at least six months, disqualifying the tens of thousands who have joined in recent days"

Maybe interesting to some: a way round the £25 fee

Very important information, Unite Community and the genius that is Len McCluskey, has opened up a £2.00 registered supporters scheme with Unite Community. Meaning to be a Registered Supporter you don't have to pay £25.00 and if you joined the Party after January 12th you can vote.
Send these Blairites a message and sign up en - masses and take back control of socialism and democracy within our party. Quite frankly the £25.00 act is Elitist, snobbery at its best.
What Unite have done is Socialism.
http://www.unitetheunion.org/growing-our-union/joinunite/
https://www.unitetheunion.org/…/unit…/your-party-your-voice/

Community branches are not just for the un-employed, working people can join too but would need to pay the full fees for workers rights protection.

P.M me for more info.

Quite right, Snowy. They are simply not a party in opposition. I still think a new political party will arise from this and in the very near future.
Those who have resigned will not take a back seat, they are all far too entrenched in politics to let it pass them bye.

They once called the Tories the "nasty party".

But with all this Eagle hate, in-fighting, refusing to stand down, and threats of legal challenges, and the weak way they dealt with the anti-Semitic abuse a couple of months ago, its clear who deserves that title now.

Their whole party is a mess and has been since they lost the election.

They're literally trapped. They have a leader who the public like (but don't know) and would probably vote for, but a party of MPs who don't like him.

At one time it would be bizarre to think of Labour splitting into two parties (although Scargill tried it with "Socialist Labour" and failed), but after this past month, anything could happen.

But even splitting into two won't work, it will just give them a smaller percentage of the vote come election time.

Corbyn needs to stand down for the good of the party. But he won't. He's arrogant and stubborn, and keeps reciting the old mantra "the country voted for me".

In any other job you get a 1 month or three month trial. If you can't do the job, you're out. Corbyn doesn't see this. And he only got the vote because the rest of the candidates were of Blair's "New Labour" era, and the country was sick of them and didn't want more of the same.

Personally, I'd like to see most MP'S and MSM have a compulsory lie detector test done by a neutral source (and results published) when allegations are made and refuted, so we can tell who are telling porkies.
I don't trust liars, whether or not I support those making or refuting the allegations.
Having heard a lot of MPs who can't/won't answer direct yes/no questions without moving sideways with an answer that does nothing to answer the question, I think they may well be able to fool a lie detector test

A state of the art lie detector setup room could be set up in parliament

Jeremy Corbyn, Labour voters like me want a champion for British workers – not a sandal-wearing socialist with the charisma of an ageing Labrador
http://www.independent.co.uk/voices...rkers-not-a-sandal-wearing-a7150601.html

Meanwhile, the recent voting intention poll:

Conservative 43% (+4)
Labour 27% (-2)
UKIP 13% (-1)
Liberal Democrat 8% (-1)
SNP 4% (nc)
Green 4% (nc)
Plaid Cymru 1% (nc)

Quote
In the latest ICM Unlimited poll, the Labour Party share of the vote continues to drop steeply, now down to 27% – a figure not seen (in the ICM/Guardian) series since October 2009.

It drops 2-points from our most recent published poll (13-15th July) with the Conservatives up +4 on the same poll, and again at a level not seen since the same October 2009 poll.
