Right Guy's N Gals..... I have the Rangy up for sale but i am looking for something special to tickle my fancy omg

I am even considering cars like this web page

Something like an Ariel Atom but maybe with a bit more practicality ?

[Linked Image]

I want to test drive the car and get out with a Massive grin on my face and hand over the cash. So many cars are boring nowadays, nice cars but boring.

So peeps, get your thinking cars on and find Scooby a real car. If anyone is sucsessfull they will obviously be in for a good run in it with me and break some laws smack

Does a Clio V6 255 tickle your fancy?

Similar to the atom in the fact it is a totally stupid concept, but a tad more practical lol!

I doubt it, but I had to suggest it hehe laugh

how about something abit like this:

1960 Ford Thunderbird 2Dr Hardtop

If you get a rs500 i will sit outside your house till i get ago.

Try n buy somthing thats finished the mk1 escort was great but needed work doing to it.

Ariel Atoms are very quick on the track (been wasted by many on many trackdays) but wouldnt have a road going one.

Porsche 996's, Skyliners, Ferrari's are all great cars but will be needed to be kept loacked up for peace of mind at night.

If i went for anything i would try somthing different.

Mk1/2 Escort with the cossie thing.

Ranger sport great cars.

X5 bmw sport 400bhp

When not get a newish M car.

Or go all out and get a big bhp skyline or buy a 200sx like me.

3door cossie have dropped in price alittle so maybe a good 450bhp one is a good bet at £10.000

Yeah, problem with US muscle cars is they are fast in a straight line, but they are very Roman Empire like when taking corners .... ie. the Amercian car designers don't realise corners exist!

Id say from Scoops list a Monaro, aint seem one before in this country, certainly not locally.

My Budget.... Erm, i dont really have one bud but i want value for money. Would like to stay within 35k but i was even looking at a 2.9 sierra for a few grand.

I have done the flash car thing and i have another 7 cars to smoke around in if i want to drive something different.

Im after something like my MK1 escort cosworth, i was scared to drive the *****g thing, it was awesome omg

rs500 then as you see alot of scoob's but nt alot of rs500, plus the one in fast ford has sorted sus for when it gets 550bhp doh
Posted By: lawton Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 19th Aug 2006 11:07am
you sure you want another subaru, with the trouble you had with the engines in your last one, and i always seem to hear about subaru engine having problems,
i would get something like a mk2 escort with a cossie lump in it, or even a escort cosworth, they seem to hold there value
Posted By: Scooby Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 19th Aug 2006 11:18am
The scooby engines were my own doing, I kept on pushing for more and more power peaking at approx 400 BHP but i never had strenthened internals due to costs.

I should have had all the internals strenthened before i pushed for huge power gains. Standard my impreza ran 215 BHP, i nearly doubled this figure so something had to give as the standard engine was never designed to withstand 400 BHP omg

I have to admit i am very tempted but i could do with shifting the Range Rover first unless a really goods offer come along.

I can get the newer shape Impreza STI UK Type with 22k miles that is only 9 months old for £17,000 cash think

Very tempting indeed......
Posted By: evo ad Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 19th Aug 2006 11:33am
Ferrari 355?

I've got my eye on one myself and you can pick up a minter for 35k.

OR an MR2 turbo with the Ferrari kit. You can pick up a good one with all the ferrari badges and interior for around 13k. Standard 0-60 times are 5.6s and 1/4 mile 14.3s.

Failing that i'm selling my Skyline (380bhp) if you're interested for £8500.

Lol, sorry matey.

With a budget like you have I guess any car for that money would be delt with by the appropriate agents.

I personally think a 2WD Saffy Cosworth (You have mentioned it before..) Fairly chaep to buy, modable on the drive, more fun than any 4wd Impreza....

Anything else could be too expensive to chance playing with, at least with the Cossie if something goes wrong its not the end of the world, and 1/2 the fun is having the ups and downs with tinkering and getting your hands dirty smile

Footballs buy cars that are "Somit special", everyone who enjoys cars buys a car and then makes it somit special wink

that'd be sweeet. is it 330BHP @ .5 bar boost? cos thats incredible.somethin tells me its more like 330 when the boost is upped, but its currently set to half a bar. Not sure on the wheels either (look more at home on a jaguar) but it'd make a gr8 drift machine and with a change of wheels and some gfx a really nice car.I wouldnt say no
Posted By: Gary Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 21st Aug 2006 7:10pm
must say does look extremely nice, change in wheels and i like it

lets see what mr mac has to say
Posted By: StuyMac Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 21st Aug 2006 8:40pm
Certainly looks the part matey wink

Not sure its been built for the UK roads though, the bodykit looks like it would last 5 minutes, along with the exhaust.

For a track / drift car, it seems ideal, but for driving on the roads... Its gonna be bumpy as hell, scrub rear tyres with camber and be very light at the back end.

Also not sure what turbo it will run to get 330bhp at 0.5bar (a small turbo would need lots more engine work to get that power at such low boost confused ), it may be like the blue one I had, boost at 5000rpm, but when it comes in.....

For a dedicated drift car it looks a great carto get in to the D1 stuff with happy

But for driving on the roads etc, I just think it would be too much.... confused

Lovely looker though happy

Posted By: Scooby Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 21st Aug 2006 9:08pm
Right, i have just telephoned the guy and he will take £7k for it.

Its running 260 BHP at 0.5 bar or 7 psi boost, he has ran it occasionaly and on a rolling road with a bleed valve at 1 bar or 14.7 psi and this is where the 330bhp comes about.

Not advised really as the fueling does not match the air flow and we get melted pistons doh
Posted By: scoop Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 21st Aug 2006 9:33pm
7k could get u a bug eye scooby couldnt it,thats what i'd buy with that money
Posted By: Gary Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 21st Aug 2006 9:40pm
no idea what 200s go for really

but a 7k scooby (about 8.5k+) is that price for a reason. lost value so much that it makes you think.

wouldnt put me off buyin the newer one though. although 350Z's im in love with at the moment. (and they are rear wheel drive)

It does 176mph, with 377bhp and a 0-60 of 4.8secs. Awsome car but I dont think your old enough for one of these yet jay.

I like the RS500 idea obviously OR The AC Cobra - I know how much you love these and they are an amazing machine that combines extreme speed with excellent handling, and v stylish.

A UK car will take 1bar all day, but an import is mapped differently, for different fuel frown

£7k is a lot for the car considering its state of tune, what your really paying for it the kit.

I was looking at the details and the suspension is fully adjustable, height and softness so it could be made to drive a bit more friendly.

I havbe told him that he is asking too much for the car. He is going to let me know if he becomes desperate for cash and reduce the amount. I think £5k is a fair price ?

Will keep my eye on this one i think......

The only problem with that, is that if you adjust the suspension, its no longer a drift car - its the set up that makes it what it is. Take away the drift set up, and its just a modified 200SX confused

As a drift car, it certainly looks the part - but it also looks very tidy confused

Is there any evidence it has been used as a drift car, or has someone just slapped a load of rear camber on it to sell it as a drift car - has the handling been proven on it confused

Theres a bit of chat about this car on the SXOC.

Basically, if it was a Blitz show car, why is it only the FMIC that is made by Blitz confused

Couple of the guys know of him, and apparently the car has been put together quite cheaply, with GRP bumpers (Copies of genuine Kouki items) and isnt in line with an Auto Salon show car frown

General discussion on the SXOC is that it looks nice, but dont go there... frown

i watched a programme about that shelby. each one is custom made, they take an old mustang and do each one by hand. i think the top of the range engine is called the super snake, think its about 5 or 600 bhp.

thought it was 600 to 700 bhp, was on the discovery channel last year, and iirc the price of a super snake was 100k plus

I have only found one "REAL" GT500, it's in the states so you'd have to get it imported - and it is BIG money. You're talking over £30K:

Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 2nd Sep 2006 11:11am
I would go for the clone to be honest they still have plenty of poke. If you can afford it though the proper one would be an investment and it doesnt look bad after it was cleaned up. But I would be carefull about firing it up after been standing that long. Would be worth removing the plugs and spraying a bit of oil down the bores b4 hand. I do think you go for something like this though.
Posted By: Gary Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 2nd Sep 2006 5:05pm
nah dont do 'clones' youd always no it wasnt the real thing
Posted By: Scooby Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 2nd Sep 2006 7:34pm
Okay, lets put this into perspective here....

A Cloned Shelby Mustang GT500 costs approx £30,000

An Original Shelby Mustang GT500 costs anywhere from £50,000 to £75,000

I know everyone is of the opinion i am minted but come on Guy's n Gal's. £50,000 for a dog of a car that needs restoring omg omg omg

Even that is stretching my limits. I would love a real shelby but due to the costs involved i would settle for a clone and be just as happy.

If i won the lottery then i would buy an original tease but for now i am looking for a nice clone

Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 4th Sep 2006 10:31pm
Prefer the white one tbh, btw I knew it was a clone, but it was the closest thing to the real car I could find hence the inverted comma's. It has an actual GT500 engine under the bonnet, that's good enough for me lol.

Not keen on the green one, looks like a supercharged pea.

Thats the question Mr Scoop

My Plans are changing, i would have loved a Shelby Cobra but the cost is way past what i want to spend.

I am selling the Rangy and the Bongo and hoping to replace them with a middle man think

What i mean is a vehicle that will do both jobs in one (Appart from the camper van thing but i have just bought a caravan for that anyways)

I need the following in a new car (In Order of priority)
  • Good Fuel economy (40 MPG Plus)
  • All Wheel Drive
  • Towing weight above 2000 kgs
  • Spacious
  • Performance

Okay, to achieve 40 MPG plus will require a diesel engined car but modern diesels are fast and so so torquey i dont mind that and you can chip them easilly enough. All wheel drive for the good old Jetski, I tow a car trailer and that weighs approx 400 kgs so a 2000 kgs towing limit would allow me to tow a car weighing 1600 kgs which is borderliine as i occasionally tow heavier, also need to tow my caravan. Spacious as i carry allot of stuff about and used to a spacious vehicle now and obviously performance, i dont think i need to explain that one to you guy's n gals..... think

Any suggestions but it must meet the above criteria !

what about an audi? don't know which 1 mind as there are loads rs4 maybe doh
Posted By: Scooby Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 15th Oct 2006 9:48am
Okay, Stewy's is very nice but all wheel drive is second on my list of priorities therefore a must so no good there. Also they only have a towing weight of approx 1600 kgs which is not enough.

RS4's are very nice and tempting but the fuel economy is poop think

Need some carefull consideration here peeps. Any more suggestions ?
Posted By: jimbo4x4 Re: Scooby : New Car (Somit Special) - 15th Oct 2006 9:49pm
If the RS4's a no go what about an A6 Quattro? They come in Diesel, are quick, more spacious than the RS4, AWD, good mpg, not sure about the towing weight though but it will be higher than the RS4 if that was tempting you...

Vauxhall Signum Elite Nav 3.0CDTi V6 24v

Interior Options included as standard

CD 70 Navi including Colour Monitor
Stereo radio/CD/MP3 CD player
CD ROM-driven satellite navigation system
Graphic information system
Steering wheel mounted audio controls

.....its a Vauxhall. This means that in a couple of years it'll be worth 2 buttons, and a used tea bag whistle

A6 Quattro : Now we are talking, or i think the A4 quattro have good towing weights.... They come in a 1.9 TDi producing 130 bhp and 2.5 V6 TDi producing some 186 bhp with nearly 400 lbs of torque. Still get 40 MPG and you can chip them higer. Good recomendation mate happy

Vauxhall Signum Elite Nav 3.0CDTi V6 24v Its a vauxhall and its NOT all wheel drive smack
