It seems that a lady was trying to turn her car around on the prom in the area of the slipway when it got caught by the wind and waves.
The lady was recovered ok, but a passer-by said the car went into the water.
At least three liveried police cars, one van and two unmarked cars, plus ambulance, two fire engines and an inshore rescue craft were in attendance. There was also a drop-sided waggon with grabber on the back doing something..

Sometimes old people swap to Automatic cars because of their arthritis. It Has nothing to do with having to use both feet over three pedals, change gear, indicate, find the window washer etc, co-ordination is fine. Two pedals are so easy to use, they cant go wrong. Stop/Go.

Until your muscle memory takes over and you use your left foot to operate a non-existent clutch; boy, do you stop quickly. grin

Saw a gent take out 4 parked cars and a shopping trolly bay in about 2 seconds. He hit the wrong pedal. Missed 5 people in the car park luckily. Today one drove into a shopping trolly bay, hit the wrong pedal. Jammed his car on the rail, took a while to get it off. Youtube is full of idiots that hit the wrong pedal, lots on people driving into shops or swimming pools.

Link off Wirral Globe's website;

Pensioner crashes car into the River Mersey.

She must have been going some speed to bust through those thick metal railings! omg What the hell was she driving? A tank?!

The metal posts are probably cast iron and quite brittle. What I can't understand is how she drove over the 18"/2ft. wall.

They may be, but they're not fool proof.
