There is also an original wall on that second pic Derek. By the first house on the left of Borough Rd East.

Aerial view - you can just see the end of St Paul's in the top left hand corner

After the station had closed but before work started on the tunnel, there used to be a kids' playground there, I can remember going there with little sister after Sunday School at St Paul's. It was still well below ground level, with steep grassy banks, and slides built straight onto the banks so no need for a frame and if you couldn't be bothered climbing all the way to the top you could just step on half way up! The biggest one was HUGE (or so it seemed at the time...)

The road bridge on Church Road that can be seen in the second pic was still there at that time too, but filled in underneath if I remember rightly. The site was completely surround by blocks of flats, where the empty space is on the picture and the newer housing is now - the only one left is the one on the corner opposite St Paul's

I remember using this station as part of a day out. The route was: trains from Woodside to Hooton, Hooton to West Kirby along what is now the Wirral Way, West Kirby to Bidston; Bidston to Seacombe; ferry to Liverpool, ferry to Woodside.
Derek; as far as I can see, both info. links on the first page are the same.

It looks like the church spire has had a bit added on.

Yes, it was completed last year, I think.
