Anyone know what was on the site of birkenhead bus station?

If you are asking about the one in front of the market then this used to be part of the the car park that serviced the original asda in Birkenhead. Asda sold up and moved to Bromborough and Wilkinsons / Blockbuster moved onto the site, the car park was halfed and the new bus station built

I was born in Conway Place just across the road from St Andrews Church when I moved into St Andrews Square there where three sides to the square and the grave yard small it maybe was overlooking the main square.

On the subject of buses...

The Wirral Bus Driver’s Prayer

Our Father
Who art in Heswall
Arrowe be thy name
Thy Thingwall come
Thy Willaston be done
On Irby as it is in Prenton
Give us this day our Birkenhead
And forgive us our Rock Ferry bypasses
As we forgive those who bypass against us
And lead us not into Park Station
But deliver us from Eastham
Amen

I think the bus station between conway street and claughton road is on the old site of St Andrews Square. St Andrews Square was family accomodation in the form of flats i think, my memories of these buildings is pretty vague but i do remember it being a pretty impressive piece of architecture (not sure how they where laid out inside).

Some photos of the buildings that were on the Bus Station site before it became the Asda car park, taken in the mid-60s; the petrol station was on the former site of St Andrew's Church. The whole lot was flattened in early 1967, before work began on the Conway Street flyover (last pic).
