The aptly named Market Inn in the background while the traders ply their wares from the 'open' market opposite.
This shot, from 1969, could possibly be of Ely.

This could just as easily go into the Birkenhead Market section.

The Market Inn before the right hand half was rebuilt and became Hornblowers

This is an aerial shot of the Market Inn and Globe from 1946.

I believe the buildings to the right of the pubs were demolished when the nearby Mersey Tunnel was being built (opened 1934), because the tunnel was only a few feet underground at that location.

That bit of land, and the land immediately behind it (which was used as a car park) has never been built on since and presumably never can be.

The Globe and Market Inn were great pubs in their heyday, especially on Saturdays, when the outside market was in full swing.
