Well, just read in the Globe that some of Grange rd west is now under compulsary purchase order!!!! dont you just love our "knock it down (or burn!) and sell it on council?
which part of grange road west? The compulsary purchase orders are aimed to benefit the whole community. and usually the "victims" of the cpo's can get a good deal out of it if they play the game right and get a good solicitor, if they are a business they can get all their costs paid for, i.e relocation, shop fitting of new premises, loss of business due to relocation, advertising costs to promote the new location etc. home owners can get a cash lump sum, a new build council house of similar size/value, relocation compensation etc.
I worked with someone that was served with a cpo for his house, his family home, he had only just bought this house and still had 100% of his mortgage to pay of, which was 85% of the value of the house. After consulting a solicitor, he was offered a lump sum to 70% of his homes value, a new council house, not to rent, to own for free, and a few grand compensation. His children also had some money deposited into their child trust fund because they had to move schools.
Moral of the story, you dont get a thing till you ask.
