According to Laura Evans and the Wirral West News leaflet just popped through my door 6900 new jobs found in the last 12 months in Wirral West. "6900 new pay packets,6900 more people able to support their families"

Trying to find some stats on unemployment levels.. Trying hard to think where in wirral west these 6900 new jobs are. Thats the equivalent to 2 new Honda car manufacturing plants

Maybe they're all underground, digging tunnels ? Certainly not on the refuse collections or in the hospitals.

I'd like to see the exact wording.

Some crazy stats around at the moment, reading one the other day that said over a third of working age Liverpool people attained a degree level qualification in 2017.

Emailed Laura and she sent link apparently from Office of national Statistics
https://www.nomisweb.co.uk/reports/lmp/wpca/1929380355/subreports/pca_ea_time_series/report.aspx

dates seem a bit confusing

her exact wording was "In wirral west we have seen an extra 6900 people in work in the past 12 months, thats 6900 new pay packets,6900 more people able to support their families"

she says its year July 2017 to July 2018 so not quite the past 12 months. Seems a bit odd as the unemployment stats in the same report say wirral west had 2800 unemployed in 2015.

of that 6900 5700 are female and 1200 male jobs.

Its possibly due to the increase in state retirement age for women especially those who are "employed" in the family firm.

I'll check it out when I get chance.

It must be a typo and she meant 69 new jobs?

There was a dip for a couple of years and then it went back up and it did go up 6900~ I still haven’t found the reason.

Seems highly unlikely . In 2017 Wirral West had the smallest electorate of any constituency in England, but it has 6,900 NEW jobs ???

It reminds me of a clerical error made by a University Graduate (there's a lot about) a number of years ago.. It only takes + 0 or - 0 to make a massive difference.

At that time the company ordered 400 items of the same things from Spain, but ended up with 4000 items of the same thing ! You see how easy it can be ?
In this case, needless to say, no one is going to argue as it's a win, win, win. It looks good for the government, and it looks good for the council and it looks good for the local MP.

The figures are there (roughly), there was a dip in 2016/17 (30,200) that has risen again in 2017 /18 (36,900) but still not reached the levels of 2013/14 (39,100). The electorate size is 55,000 and unemployment is pretty low (a lot of the electorate are retired).
