Fantastic articles on both Birkenhead Corporation Transport and Wallasey Corporation Transport on http://www.petergould.co.uk/local_transport_history/ in their relevant sections.
Plenty for transport enthusiasts there! I have a postcard of a map of Wallasey with the tramways marked on it, from around 1920.

After the bomb damage at laird st depot in the blitz we had some red buses which i think were old London transport. Funny looking things to my eyes with an outside open staircase to the top deck.

Surviving vehicles were parked in Cavendish street and twelve buses were hired from LT. I don't know what they were or how long they stayed, and it seems that there are no photographs surviving of them - unless somebody on here knows differently.
Some retired Birkenhead buses in the 1950s.
