C = Cavendish Railway Marshalling Yard

Next to coal wharfs for export of coal and import of iron ore.

That is actually a fake R. Mersey made from hessian, blue paint and broomsticks glued together to fool the jerries. It was actually sited in the hills near Llangollen. My dad says he helped to build it (his bit was the large grey patch in the bottom left.) General McArthur spent some time there practising walking onto the beach in preparation for his "I will return" bit in the Phillipines. He can be seen if you have a magnifying glass just at the edge of the sandy bit. The Germans were idiots. Not like me!! :-)

B = the gasworks at Gorsey Lane. Just below the roundabout to the tunnel heading down towards the bridge.
At least that's what the Germans marked it as.
Might have mentioned it before but my old man told me about seeing the Zeppelin making a courtesty visit to Merseyside before the war and it made a point of floating up and down the docks areas, obviously taking pics as it went. Did the same at a load of important future target areas in the UK. That sort of thing is still a common practice when the dark arts people get a chance.

Area D has a double arrow which brackets from the Tranmere Oil Terminal area and along to the cattle run at the Lairage. Seacombe is much further down river. I reckon anyway.

E = Clarence Dock, not Canada as I said. Quite right bigpete!

Yeh - Area D - looks like one arrow pointing to Woodside Lairage and one pointing to Wallasey Lairage which was between Wallasey and the Alfred Dock - where the entrance is today.

Seacombe Landing Stage is further up river - past the Flak notice - jutting out into river...
