It's a Chrome platform but without the added integrated spies of Google.

Some people are forced to use IE (e.g. at work, college). Others are perfectly happy with it. And some of those actually prefer it over the likes of Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari etc.

As you're using Win7, have you tried IE9? It's MS most standards complient browser.

If you have tried 9 and don't like it, try uninstalling the IE8 update then reinstall it. I'm not at a W7 machine, but the instructions are availble via your preferred search engine.
