My daughters can't even call or text this evening so I think it is effecting people in different ways.

It's not just BBM problems as there have been in previous days.

If it's blocked, you're stuffed, the phone is useless in the UK.

If you can send me the IMEI (pm) I'll check for you tomorrow and see if it is blocked, but it may just be Steve Jobs having one last laugh on BlackBerry smile

sell it quick and buy an iphone ;-)

As Sallybear says, it's nationwide. It was on the lunchtime news on the TV today. A "Core Switch" somewhere has failed. A lot of folk are fizzing. After Blackberry went tits up last time they said "It won't happen again". Oh really ??

Whatever gave you the idea of buying a blackberry anyway?

Some people never learn, honestly no

You can check the status of the phone here using the IMEI number.

Surely that won't work for UK mobiles? If a mobile is blocked in the UK it will still be useable abroad.

True, I've just used a UK checking service and that's given me an IMEI as being blocked, tried that one (which is Australian) and it says that it is fine, so it's no use for UK users, although does give you am idea where blocked phones might be sent to.

Yep.

It was a big thing once the network operators started blacklisting the IMEI and made it very illegal to change it.

Phones were stolen and sold on foreign eBay sites or marked as for sale abroad only.
