I have a "new" mobile. It's on vodafone originally but has been unlocked for O2. I got the configuration text from them but at the top in red writing it says "Message not authenticated, installation unavailable".

Does this mean that I will not be able to receive MMS as I'm having to go on my Bluebook to retrieve them. It gives me an option on the MMS messages I receive to retrieve them but it won't have it. Am I doing something wrong??

Any assistance greatly received. Cheers Guys happy

I had to call into the O2 shop so they could
manually do the settings, as i was getting mms erros after
the default settings came down.

I'm on a simplicity so it was free there help.

They said that not always does the settings over ride
the defaults and its manual all the way to get the mms and
tint er net.

did yyou get this sorted? ive had murder with mms since i changed to a windows mobile device (microsoft decided that nobody need use mms - i require it for business) and then after that i had problems when i initially changed from GSM to UMTS, if your phone is in 3G/UMTS mode, make sure the MMS port is 8080 and not 9201 otherwise it will most probably have problems.

Also, check that you are using wap.o2.co.uk to surf the net and retrieve mms; if you use mobile.o2.co.uk, it will work for the internet but not for mms and you can't have two connections active at the same time.

There is no difference between wap.o2.co.uk and mobile.o2.co.uk - years ago mobile was the connection you needed for full web browsing, but o2 must have opened wap up cos i can browse the full net unrestricted using it on both mobile and laptop.

No, didn't get it sorted yet - been looking at any mms on bluebook instead (pain in the arris if you're not near a pc).

I'll have a look at the settings and try what you have suggested honey happy Spanks Matt!

lol no problem, i know how annoying it is not to recieve mms after this thing was messing about. If you can find the settings part of the MMS setup, and post all the settings and whether you are contract or payg, i can probably advise as to whether they look correct or not.

o2 have a habit of a. sending out duff settings and b. not sending out settings at all. This usually leads to problems later down the line, especially if the handset was not an o2 handset to begin with. MMS is evem worse because it is relying on the net connection, but is in truth, fussy about what type of connection it can use!

It's all set to vodafone as that's the network the mobile was on. I got it unlocked for O2. I think I've done it - will soon find out when someone sends me an mms laugh

If not, I'll be giving you a shout my freaky shouldered friend raftl
