Hi Michaela,

Only info I have is that Mill Street Barracks in St Helens is now
used by St Helens Sea Cadets but has has
a varied connection with the military in
one form or another since 1861.At one point it was used as a volunteer hall also.I was part a paranormal investigation in this location and had some great results.

Me too, I was their 3 weeks ago, I'm trying to get some info on Alfred cowell a long time volunteer he was suppose to of lived on the left side of the barracks. but what I heard was that a secret Co-alliance force was formed to fight with nelson but I cant seem to get any info on that, maybe its just a story ???? what I'm thinking is maybe the barracks that we see now was somewhat smaller back then and if this is true then when was the rest of it built so I'm questioning the date 1861.

The research I done on it keeps hitting brick walls.Apparently the barracks has a mysterious past, all I can suggest to you is to see if St Helens has a local archive and contact them. They will be able to provide you with what you need.Good luck hun.
