Travellers plan to use their children as human shields... cynical tactic revealed as 'foreign legion' gathers at illegal site

Traveller children could be used as part of a human barricade to stop evictions at Dale Farm in a cynical attempt to turn public opinion against police and bailiffs.
Protesters are planning to chain themselves to concrete blocks at the traveller site – part of which was built illegally – in the battle against the bulldozers.
Details emerged as a ‘foreign legion’ of activists began joining the barricades at the camp in Crays Hill, Essex, an area of which the travellers bought and then built on without planning permission

On radio 2 on tuesday It was stated the travellers had bought the land ( Dale Farm ) just didn't have plannin permission to erect dweelings there why when they paid their money was the question not asked " so what do you want the land for?" if the powers to be had been told then "oh we want to set up a travellers estate there" Im sure 10 years ago there would have been a lot of controversary about it so why wasnt objections put forward then but no they still took the money off the travellers now it's going to cost mega pounds to remove them for them to encamp elsewhere. I do disagree usingt the children as barricades though

It can't be seen to be one rule for us and one rule for them though can it?

Why should their threats of violence and threats of moving on elsewhere and causing trouble be grounds for special privileges?

We couldn't just buy a plot of land and build on it, could we?

Also, I'm not sure if you saw the news reports on this but the poor chap next door is living a nightmare, threats of violence and even death towards him, abuse, waste (toilet and other) over his back fence. It's not on.

Yes, they own the site, but they should be governed by the same rules that the rest of the country have to stick to.

yes alex u r rite, did not see that incident, not well up on this "dale farm" but i agree they should abide by british laws.
Hi Reddragon,The council are evicting these Gypsies because they did not get planning permission to build on the land 10 years ago .If they are being evicted for that reason alone and not a hidden agenda ,Well they have only built on part of the land surely they should only be evicted from the part of land they have built on and not all of it ,As most of the land actually houses mobile homes? so how can they be evicted from all of the land when they have clearly not built on all of it , can you see what i mean? just a thought
The land is green belt and was sold for 100.000. If it sold to build property on it would cost 10x that.

I didn't hear that bit...

Of course they need to fcuk off then. If that land had the potential for planning permission then the muppets wouldn't have had a look in at the time of purchase.

They will have paid slightly over the odds for what is just agricultural grazing land, worth £10k an acre at best.
The first half does have planning permission and they are not being evicted from there.
It's the second half which doesn't.
The problem is not just about them being on the land etc, it is the fact that the dwellings are plumbed in to the mains so are both draining the water supply causing pressure problems further up / down the line and also pumping into the sewer system which has not been constructed for the additional influx.

Which most of the newspapers neglect to mention, unfortunately.
I cant see why the goverment doent try and give them a permenant site. I mean look at the number of immigrants are allowed to enter this country and the seems to get better looked after by the welfare state than the travellers.
TudorBlue, good point ,Only i`m thinking it has took the goverment 10 years to do something about it .Are the Gypsies easy picking ,is the whole thing a smoke screen for all those making these rules so that we forget to look at the expences the very same peeps are putting in for the 2nd or 3rd homes they need .I personally don`t agree with most things this sh/ty government do they are all a bunch of arseholes

Have just put a new thread to the proposed local travellers permanent sites. Each Local authority now has a quota to provide permanent sites.

Because of this it will not be easy to lodge a sucessful appeal, if do not want the sites near you.
@paxobiscom I thought the quota system has now been removed (again!).

@TudorBlue you volunteering to have a site next to your home?
I knew it would be the Daily Mail even before I checked the link.

If I could help it, I wouldnt want any gyspies anywhere near my house, no one in there right mind would. I was pointing out the fact that immigrants get looked after better than Gyspies do.
