New parking charges are to be introduced at:-

Kings Parade and Coastal Drive in New Brighton/Wallasey
The Gunsite in Leasowe
The Derby Pool in New Brighton
North Parade in Hoylake
South Parade in West Kirby.

£1 an hour, £2 a day, £20 overnight (and possibly £50 a year), the same as the country parks.

I would gladly pay £50 a year for all council car parks even though I don't use them that much but £50 for just for the leisure car parks I really can't justify or agree with it.

I notice the Gunsite and Derby Pool parking is the same charge as Royden Park, 50p/hr etc, and is included in the annual pass. 24hr max parking too, with no overnight charge. That'll be where the Harrison Drive motorhomes will end up, I guess! New Brighton, Meols and West Kirby have hefty overnight charges but are free 6.30pm-10pm, interestingly. Handy for evening dogwalkers - and for people wanting to go for a meal in New Brighton or West Kirby as long as they keep an eye on the time! if they are determined to charge, I reckon they might backtrack to the 50p/hr rate and all parking included in annual (Wirral residents only?) pass fee. Time will tell. The Council website has an online form for comment, objections etc.

Popped into the Cherry Orchard /Arrowe Park Golf car park following a funeral and noticed they had signs up to pay......the out of order sign on the ticket machine worked well!.. Plus they only had one ticket machine which is about a 100m walk from the furthest car park spaces.. Bet the Golfers arent happy having to shell out a few more quid to go and play golf... . Likewise any fisherman wanting a days fishing at Royden Park will have to pay extra....

Ive changed my routines to avoid all the pay car parks.used to be a nice place to go for a quick lunchtime walk.. Do most shopping online instead of having to pay parking fees in Birkenhead...furthering the death of the town..

It's 90p per hour at Heswall, Puddydale, behind the shops. Mainly shoppers who use it, I imagine, as there's not much else there other than a play area in a field. Shoppers during the day are mainly pensioners. Most others would be at work.
So another way of getting money out of the old ducks. The car park itself is in the most appalling condition too, I just hope some old soul doesn't twist and fall on the very uneven ground, it wouldn't be hard to do.

All this will do is force visitors to park on residential side streets. It happened in Cleveleys and Southport and Formby.

Here's the link to object:

Noticed at B'head market, the (newish) parking charges £1-20 an hour, £1-80 for 2hours and that the meters don't give change. Just wondering who gets the extra no change that may accrue from folks that don't have the correct money and put in more than the charge.

Do the council own the meters or a private company?

The Europa Square Car Park (in front of Wilko's) is a Council car park. There was an article about it last year HERE

Many other councils already charge for parking. The Wife's Uncle lives in Gosport and all the car parks there levy a charge. Only a matter of time before it happened here I wouldn't mind so much if it resulted in maybe better car parks - e.g. lights, bins regularly emptied etc. I doubt it somehow

I know many other places with good coastal views have to pay to park and enjoy them, so in a way we have got off lightly in Wirral so far, having so much free promenade parking. That's not to say I agree with it! I certainly don't agree with having to pay to park on the pothole-ridden area by the Arrowebrook dip for Arrowe Park, or the uneven and in wet weather very muddy section on the right as you go into Royden Park .Using the charging income, they might at least bring these areas up to an acceptable standard so we can see where some of the money is going.

Well that's a very pleasant surprise! Can't help wondering where else the Council will look for income, now that avenue is closed to them. More parking charges for parks, perhaps? Watch this space. Keeping cars free but putting some system in place to charge for all the overnight parking of motor homes on Harrison Drive would be a start.

Good news for people indeed.. Put on the back burner to be sneaked out sometime in the future me thinks..

That is good news as I go to the beach with the dog. I don't think I would have bothered if I had to pay as I never know how long I will be there plus if and when they bring the ban stopping dogs on certain parts of the beach during the summer.

Your council will always let things be built then after hooking lazy fat consumers into parking close then ramp up charges or begin them.
Expensive councils always want more.
Theyre parasites. I like to walk abit so i know exactly where to park by europa / city centre liverpool / new brighton / liscard & pay nothing.
It takes area knowledge , parking law knowledge etc.
Its part of why towns fail....high charges for parking.
Look at ches oaks - it helped destroy chester shops.
Tell u somewhere v cheap to park.....alderley edge / wilmslow ha ironic
