A police convoy of about 19 vehicles was driving around central and south Liverpool area on Sunday evening with Blues and Twos going.

The police have said this was a show of strength to deter gun crime.

While I think its a good idea to try different tactics, having this lot flying around with sirens and lights flashing in a non-emergency situation just blows their credibility yet again.

It would have been much more effective if they hadn't been in convoy and were covering everywhere not just main roads, keep the lights on but kill the sirens.

Thats ironic
Mostly you ring police they dont turn up
Its all min effort with them
Big robberies, drug dealing ,shootings dead people in rtas
Theres loads attend then
" low level " damage, assaults, house robbin, fights etc etc
Dont turn up
Useless
Wirral has only 6 cops on nights sometimes
Were the opposite of the usa
We under police....
Crime is increasing esp in wallasey
Scallys smashin & burnin everything for a laugh
Weak police weak courts weak judges weak understaffed prisons etc etc
No wonder were the laughin stock to scumbags

Sounds loke a very silly stunt to me. Probably made the coppers feel good about themselves, however.

Really? Death Penalty might work a bit more effectively.

Prison population in 50s 20,000, today 85,000 so maybe it did work

There seems to be a shooting everyday in Liverpool these days, not a very nice place one would want to live in, yet armed police are from Manchester!

Only shred of comfort is that most shootings are targeted and not random. No comfort though for family of young lad on bike caught in crossfire.

Parts of manchester equally bad as parts of liverpool.something gone sadly wrong in this country.no politicians had the answer.perhaps we need a trump to get all the little scrogs to build a wall around their cities. Pay them in legalised weed or charlie..walls not always bad ....chesters are a tourist attraction.

No politician has even bothered themselves to the point of acknowledging , unless of course it was one of their own. They left the drug scene to get on with itself, and now look. If they do the same with violent crime, then it's a breeding ground for Islamic attacks from both directions. It's probably time we all jumped up and down and shouted "What are you going to do about it " ? Unless we do, it will continue to grow, it might anyway but at least we would have tried.
Who is responsible in the Government for crime ? Hopefully not one of those annoying women, Truss, and Rudd.

In a significant amount of cases they get the wrong house/person, seems to have happened a lot in Merseyside.

And another police convoy last night (Thursday).

We criticise America for its gun laws, Merseyside Police have issued licenses for over 12,000 guns which apparently is low compared to almost all other UK areas.
