Unprovoked attack in New-Brighton - 15th Aug 2012 8:14am
Detectives are investigating after a 29-year-old man was assaulted by two other men in New Brighton in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 12, 2012).
Officers were called to Rowson Street by paramedics at around 3.10am to find a man suffering from a broken nose and facial injuries in what is described as an unprovoked attack.
Police are keen to trace two men of stocky build who are believed to be responsible for the attack. It is believed that they walked from Waterloo Road on to Victoria Road before assaulting the victim on Rowson Street shortly before 3.05am.
One of the men was wearing light trousers and a dark top and the other, who is shorter, was wearing dark trousers, a dark top and white shoes.
Crime scene investigators have been carrying out examinations, officers have been conducting house to house enquiries and CCTV is being sought.
Officers are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with any information in connection with the incident, to come forward.
DCI Dave McCaughrean said: “This was an unprovoked attack and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice.
“We ask that anyone with any information in connection with this incident call us, no matter how small that piece of information may seem, so we can take action against the offenders.”
