More than 100 Woolworths staff in Birkenhead, New Ferry, Liscard and Heswall lose their jobs
MORE than 100 Woolworths staff on Wirral will lose their jobs as the ailing firm closes branches across the UK.
Woolworths stores in Birkenhead, New Ferry and Liscard closed on December 27, while a branch in Heswall will shut on January 5.
In Birkenhead the company employs 52 workers, with 34 in Liscard, 16 in New Ferry and 17 in Heswall.
Across the UK Woolworths currently employs 22,000 permanent members of staff and 5,000 temporary and seasonal staff in 807 stores, who will be retained for a period following the closures.
