Mini Cooper, R50, 2003

Changed driver's seat with failed height adjuster for one off ebay. Transferred seatbelt pretensioner over to replacement seat but seat warning/airbag light now stuck on. Comes on with ignition, goes out briefly and comes back on when engine started.

Googling suggests unplugging the pretensioner has stored a fault code in the control unit which now needs to be cleared.

Is there anyone local who can reset this please? As far as I can work out, it can't be done with an OBDII tool, it needs the specific airbag reset tool.

Cheers.

My dad has just bought one of these tools. He's doing fault reading/code clearing for 25 quid a pop. Which is a lot cheaper than a dealer.

Thanks. Most guys are doing it for a tenner.

I'd be wary of a generic code reader and fault clearer.

First they won't clear airbag faults.

Secondly, I've been very busy lately fixing faults that these cheapo generic ones have caused, particularly by people who don't know what they're doing and there's no comeback as they're not registered as a business.

I was in Manchester yesterday correcting an ESP failure that some cowboy code clearer had caused. The unit had to be completely recalibrated.

By all means stay away from the dealers, but try and find someone who specialises in just one make. I just do Peugeots for example.
