I bought an item this morning from Halfords Bidston.

I connected it up in my car, and as all plugs fitted, the way they should, I threw box and receipt in bin, and bin has been emptied.

Now a wiki member gave me the last bit I need to connect my stereo, which I have done, but the part I bought from Halfords is not working.

What are my rights to return for exchange, am not after refund, just exchange.

I did not pay cash It was a card payment.

(yes I know am mad for throwing box and receipt away)

The Halfords tills can tell them what the item was and at what time it was bought, they will also have a copy of your card number in that days banking, so proving you bought it from there is easy.
If all you want is an exchange they probably won't even think twice about doing it, as for the box, they'll keep the one the new one comes in.
If it comes to it the law is actually on your side with this one, but as I don't think there'll be any issue there's no need to go in all guns blazing so its irrelevant information.

buy another one, then you have a receipt and a box to take the faulty one back with :0)
