Got my 4 tyres off ebay and pleased. Had 3 fitted by tyre fitters but they couldn't get one of the locking bolts off and in the process have stripped the splines on the locking key. Anyone used anyone to get a wheel off which has seized stripped nuts. Drilling out or welding nut on. The wheels are alloy. cheers in advance of suggestions

I had this years ago and tried the extra nut welding on, which failed simply because of the pressure needed.I think I ended up splitting the nut with a chisel but may have used a nut splitter.

I had the same problem, charged me £10 per wheel to remove them at garage, because I had the car booked in to fit the tyres I paid and got it done to save all the aggro and messing about, fortunately it was only the two rear wheels, are you in the AA or any roadside outfit? let down the tyre and call them out, thay have a special tool which they just hammer on and hey presto, hope this helps.

Some yeears back I had a similar problem. I got a flat and called Green Flag out to change the wheel. The chap had a wheel wrench with a sort of telescopic handle which extended out about a metre. I noticed he put his weight on this thing to tighten the nuts on the spare wheel, but when they came to put the repaired wheel back on, they couldn't undo the nuts as the silly bugger had stretched the thread. In the end they had to cut off the nuts and put new studs in.
I complained to green Flag, and to their credit they refunded the cost without question.
The moral of the story is to be sure that nuts are not overtightened by some overenthusiastic clown. It can prove expensive, especially if you have lock nuts.

They usually chisel round but I normally bash an undersized socket on.
