If you were getting a new car, up to 45k what would you get? ( don't say an old corsa and keep the change lol) Any car but got to be brand new, not second hand... It's the only rule

Not sure it would come into 45K but close. Tesla, i love electric cars. Not for the environment but the performance. Have you got 45K to blow on a motor?

I've had Porsche,s and Ferrari,s in the past they cost too much to run and lose too much money, I now have a motorhome as a toy and its far more fun and depreciation is at a minimum.

Yep I have had an Elise and a exige, see picture in avatar.
Basically i lease a car every two years, the value of the vehicle I lease is about 45k. I keep it for 2 years then hand it back. I am due a renewal in February so need to start working out my next car. They can sometimes take months to be built and imported so you need to get your order in early!

how the other half live eh xD you don't want anything too flashy, but then again nothing too boring. so i don't know why i suggested a lotus xD if you could get an Aston for 45K i'd say to jump on it but you can't... BMW/Audi/Merc are all a bit too 'dick'-y i've actually just been driving behind/next to/infront of a Jaguar XF on the motorway and bypass and it looked gorgeous, it was the "S" spec according to an S badge on the back... and they are really not bad priced at all Clicky i'd say you seriously consider one of those!

I have been looking at those to be honest. I keep thinking I'm too young for a jag though! I'm only 35! I have an e class merc now which I love but life is to short to just get another one, need to sample something else! At the end of the day though I was happier in my mk3 escort in 2001 and my 206 gti and my golf vr6 than I was in the lotus's or the mercs! A car is a car these days, it needs to be cheap to run, cheap to insure, very comfy and most importantly be reliable. I may decide to stop leasing and just get a second hand motor for ~10k ish, as long as it ticks the boxes! how the other half live eh xD you don't want anything too flashy, but then again nothing too boring. so i don't know why i suggested a lotus xD if you could get an Aston for 45K i'd say to jump on it but you can't... Thats a tricky one.... Out of curiosity I punched in "New cars" on Autotrader, set the max price to £45k and had a look.... Its just below the price of the top spec BMWs (M cars)/ Mercs (AMG) / Audis (RSs), Jags etc, so youd be getting a very high spec car, but not the top spec engine wise - I think if I had that much, Id try and add a little more to get the pinnacle of the range. I guessing it must work out worse to get finance for a couple of years and hand it back after 2-3 years...? Be interested to see what you decide to go for
