Right I have jail broken many an iPhone 3G
Put baseband 6.015 on them to use ultra snow
On one iPhone 3G the screen flickers
Has anyone come across this and do they know of a fix

I've had that annoying fast flicker on my iPhone 4, it corrected itself after a couple of days.

Sometimes goes, sometimes doesnt. When I had the 3g, I updated the baseband to the Ipad one, as you have, but then used pwnage tool to put the firmware back to 4.2.2. This way, you keep the Ipad baseband but use a compatible ios.
Worth a try.
