British Commander was a single-screw oil tanker built for the British Tanker Co at the Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering yard, Dundee, and was launched on 11th July 1922.
She met her end during the War when she was intercepted by the German surface raider
Pinguin south of Madagascar on 27th August 1940. The crew of 46 were taken prisoner and the tanker was sunk by gunfire.
