I know that this Website has been mentioned before on Wiki (see 'The Magnet Film Locations' thread (Clicky) , but I was looking at the locations used for the film 'Ferry 'Cross the Mersey', and this one has got me stumped. Looks like it should be arond abot the Dell area of Rock Ferry/New Ferry, but I can't place it - any ideas? Go to: Clicky to get the screen grabs.
It looks like other Wirral locations are still needed for 'The Magnet' and 'The Reckoning' - anyone here to take up the challenge?

Is it near the old Wallasey Dock? It's years since I saw the film, but I seem to remember they used a building near the waterfront there as the location of Gerry's home - he rides his scooter from there down to the ferry at Woodside.
I'm supposed to be popping round to my uncle's place sometime soon. He was in the film The Magnet so will show him the photos, it should bring back some memories for him.
Looks like its by the old shore in new ferry. If you came down the road opposite iceland and carried on going. I was there the other day, pretty sure its there
Im only on my phone at the moment so i cant see the picture well but from angle of the liver buildings it looks like its somewhere by the fishermans wharf site
That is deffo more north of the Wirral than new ferry. I'll pop out on the bike later and try match it up but I don't think we will get an exact match due to all the new buildings in the area.
Cheers all for the comments so far - Wheels, if you could get a close photo match, that would be great. I must admit I never thought of it being more north Wirral, but I'm getting convinced (looking on Google Maps) Thanks again all!

I'm pretty sure this is the site where the old Fishermans Wharf was in Seacombe, a bit further up from the ferry at the entrance to Alfred dock. There used to be buildings there in the 60's surrounded by fields which as kids we used to call The Brokey (for some unknown reason). Anyway, I know the building was used as Gerry's home in the film.
In the film, Gerry leaves his home on a scooter and is next seen riding across a set of locks over what could be the entrance to the Alfred Dock. If the scenes were shot in sequence, the location of his 'home' could be near the waterfront just north of the dock entrance. Looking on Google maps, there's now a road there called King's Wharf.
I always understood that the location for this sequence was at Alfred Pier Head, Seacombe, where there used to be a pair of cottages built on the North Reserve close to the entrance to Alfred Dock.
Yeah I'm sure that would be the old cottage that was on the locks at the bottom of scotts field before the first of the "four bridges"
Incidentally has anybody seen a GOOD copy of "Ferry Cross The Mersey" I've bought it twice and considering it was made around the same time as "A Hard Day's Night" it it awful quality ,deteriorated and faded...never been reissued or been on tv because Apple (Beatles Company)refuse to re-release it
