Unique scheme for new Wirral youth clubs starts at fire station AN INNOVATIVE plan to locate one of four new “super centre ” youth clubs in a fire station could be approved by Wirral Council next week.
The plan is part of a wider £250,000 scheme to develop the super centres at key locations across Wirral.
Wallasey Fire Station will be one of the first to house the new hubs which will be open to young people six days a week.
Cllr Phil Davies, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “We are not going to shut any of the existing youth clubs which the council owns or has staff working in.
“But young people have said to us that, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays, they want provision they can go to.”
These plans also coincide with Wirral being chosen for the Government’s Play Pathfinder, which will provide £1m to support 22 play areas.
