"Steps to turn off System Restore
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
3. Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click to select the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.
4. Click OK.
5. When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm that you want to turn off System Restore:
You have chosen to turn off System Restore. If you continue, all existing restore points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer.

Do you want to turn off System Restore?
After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes."

1. Go the start menu then find "My Computer"
2. Right click on it
3. Go to "Properties"
4. Select the "System Restore" tab
5. Tick the "Turn off system restore" box at the top
6. Click on "Apply"

This disables the function, but the service may continue to run, so to turn it off completely do this:

1. Go to "Control Panel"
2. Go to "Administrative Tools"
3. Open up "Services"
4. Scroll down to "System Restore"
5. Double click on it
5. Ammend "Startup Type" to Disabled
7. Click Apply and thats it turned off completely.

Dunno if you are interested, but they are doing 120GB laptop drives in PC World for £40 atm, and 160's for £60.

Im going to get a 250GB from eBuyer soon for mine, they only £78 with free delivery.

Yes, doesnt matter if its PATA or SATA, they are both the same price range. But this you would need to find out, if you have the model number, I can probably find out for you.

It is usually as simple as adding memory, sometimes you dont eve have to unscrew anything, on my lappy the hard drive just slides out from behind the battery.

Not sure if this is exactly the same, but this is the A105 (yours is the A100, the A105 could be the US variant, but either way likely to be similar if not the same).

See if yours looks like this underneath -
