the ecu is different but i have it, the loom is the same tho,its exactly the same system.
Engine is 115BHP, ill go one better than gettin the Gti ECU, ill chip the Si one to give even more power and so on.ill deffo be gettin large throttle bodies asa well, i may get the biggest possible, ie/ foci st170 TB, see if it fits, ill have to do my research on that tho.

Dazza,ur bandwagon costs too much, my bandwagon makes money

To use the ST170 manifold you need to cut the fan cowling and tilt the radiator braket to give the manifold the clearence needed.

Ment to be a good mod but only if you have the power behind it - U dont want to loose backpressure!

If u take this route, floor the engine and if the revs take awhile to drop you've lost backpressue :S

Didnt think you could do that? Doesnt it mess up the Throttle position, Idle and the air/fuel ratio?

Not heard of that one done before

Sounds like a lot of hassle to me matey frown

Not convinced about the looms being the same though confused Your 1.4 has a carb on single point injection, so the injector rail is prolly going to be different and does your car have a MAF sensor confused

Bolting the 1.8 ECU to yours as it is will be no good - it wount be able to control the air / fuel mix as its a carb, and wont have the sensors needed.

My guess is you need a 1.8 loom, all conectors, and ECU and drop everything in at the same time, and as Ive found out from past experiences, its a good idea to get the motor in, and running as std before playing with it. Messing with them before you drop them in just increases the chance of problems, and they are harder to find frown

Dude my 1.4 is MPi fuel injection. As if i would ever own a carbed engine! When i wasw 17 the one thing i had to have was a fuel injected car so i cud have my 57i lol. how petty am i. Im pretty sure the looms are the same but i will lokk through my haynes manual to check. I dont want the 1.8 loom as that will try to route signals from systems i dont even have(ABS etc)Both the ECUs i have use the same connection to hook up to the loom, same plug same cables in the same slots

top speed of new engine=at least 130,instead of 115 down big hills lol
at least 130 is optimistic out of a kitted 1.8 mate. my mate has got an Si that he has made more lightweight and had fe wittle engine mods, and he is lucky to hit 130!

Why not simply throw a bottle of Nitrous at it ???

This can give you variable power gains up to approx 75 bhp.

nitrous seems expensive and dangerous.

600 notes for the kit and then 50 pound per top up. I want the power there 24/7

Surely 600 pound can be better spent?

BMC ram air, full performance exhaust, Cams. Thats 20BHP ish right there

Now ive got my Si the big power is major on the cards now

Cud i just whack the 1.8 block over to the 1.6. Would this be easier than pulling both engines?

I can get the 1600 up to 130+ real easy. the car my new throttle body and AFM came from had this power on his 1600 Si. The mods he has on a 1.8 would be even better. Yum yum
