She did have a favourite stag that someone killed by accident . She asked to see it's body and was visibly upset.

Well I don't think it is although it does look like it's a scene from a fantasy film. I can't copy and paste the full article up , I've tried but it's easily found if you put in stag photo with moon a Scottish newspaper has the full story and you can read it there.
I loved that film Granny and remember that scene well. They are so majestic with their awesome antlers and so sad when they get killed. Hate to see animal heads and skins being used in homes as trophys.

The easiest way to get a photo like this is to catch a stag and tie it to a peg in the ground at a carefully calculated point, retire to a distance where the moon looks as big as this and at a point where the stag is superimposed in front of it, and Bingo. Easy Peasy! (apart from catching the stag!)
Firing a shot into the air at the right time could be used too, in order to catch its attention.
Well, either he was lucky or he set it up. Whether you consider that 'phoney' is up to you I suppose.
You can make fantastic movies of the moon with a telephoto lens. Not only does it look enormous against a background of trees or whatever, its movement can be seen quite easily.
Why couldn't it have been a Harvest Moon, or a penumbral lunar eclipse ?
This year’s Harvest Moon on September 16 happens to be an especially close and large full moon. Some will call it a supermoon. Notice that it’s very bright!
