Just so all you people with driving lamps know, I researched the law before fitting the driving lamps to the top of the windscreen on the jeep. You can only use them with main beam legally. The beam pattern on driving lamps is alot longer and higher than fog lamps, hence if you use them 'round others then you're actually doing more damage than the fog light drivers! After reading that I decided to wire my driving lamps directly to the main beam on two switches so I can have the inner/outer ones on seperately to save the battery.
My front fogs on the jeep are on a totally seperate switch, and I only ever use them if I really need to happy

good man laugh good reaserch to! how can you tell the difference from looking at driving lamps and foglights though?

i've been told that my bumper lights are driving lamps and not foglights, but i still dont drive round with them on just out of politness for other drivers as i know how anoying it is for someone to be blinding you when on the road then turning round and saying "they're not foglights they're driving lamps" i dont give a s**t what they are they're still blinding me mad

The glass on fog lamps has a pattern of vertical lines running down them, and they look sort of frosted, like bathroom windows. Driving lamps have a more clear and spaced out pattern on the glass.

Here's a fog lamp:

If aligngned correctly then driving lamps wil not blind you, its the muppets that have them pointing all over the place. Similar to those drivers who drive around with there headlights not aligned correctly, not that does blind you, big time.....

I hate people that forget to turn their high beams of, people with one headlight out, people that insist on only having their side lights on and the majority of new shape clio drivers

fogs are a simimlar (but not the same league) type of thing as neons! they dont make ya car ne faster or nefin, but they make the car look that bit "cooler"!

Also on a similar rant.....What is goin on with volvo's automatic light thingys! Some days i'll be drivin round when the suns crackin the flags with me sunglasses on, and a vovlo will cruise past with its main beam on!
Innovative technology at the time maybe on old volvos, but "always on" style lights are just poor when its sunny and the lights r still on!

I h8 that feature of volvos. The technology isnt innovative at all. u could fit it to ur own car with little money and a bit of effort using light sensors which cost almost nothing from a good leckie shop.Dazza, i dont think that i actually swith my fog on myself, it just does it on its own sometimes.it might be an induced voltage running through the switch on circuit.dunno.

they dont dazzle ya unless ya look straight at them.

But personally I think it is pointless driving with ya foglights on in normal driving conditions....ESPECIALLY DURING THE DAY!
