Has anybody got, or could direct me to a photograph of Woodburn Dacre Hill, which according to the maps disappeared some time between 1913 and 1928?

This was the home of the Allardyce family. I have seen 2 photos in local books
which may be of interest. One shows Mr.Allardyce sitting in a chair. He has a dressing gown or similar garment on and is wearing a sort of " bobble hat" type
thing-like Wee Willie Winky in the nursery rhyme. Room looks full of clutter.
Second pic I recall shows house with garden in front as approached from Kings
Lane. Would need to do some more searching to find these again amongst my
Local History stuff. Pretty sure that one or both of these pics featured in an
article in The Wirral Champion written by Bill Fairs.

Hope this helps.

Go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=332520,385700 and you can see Woodburn on the 1912 1:2500 map.
It is not there now.

Thanks everyone. Littlestan - it would be helpful if you could find the pics (and the article?) some time. Lightning - it also appears on the 1913 map, seems some time after that that the estate was given over to housing with roads named after it. Finney, I'd got his will but not Alice's, thanks.Max

The following is taken from 'Liverpool's Legion of Honour' published in 1893:

Quote
ALLARDICE (DAVID W.), of Woodburn, Dacre-Hill, Rock Ferry, is a director of the Pacific Loan and Investment Company, and a partner in the firm of Cockbain, Allardice & Co., South American merchants, James-street, Liverpool.

Thanks Littlestan. I've been able to tie him down fairly well, it is the pics and the article you mentioned that seem most interesting.
