Was wondering if anyone has any photos of this place before it was converted into flats.

Sorry no pics but a friend's grandad was a doorman there.

No but I remember it well. The sign 'Late Extra' was in blue on a white background illuminated above the door. Some of the building was used by nuns from Maris Stella convent (who would have Stella in a convent school name now?) and it was a bit of a joke that there was a bridge goin from Maris Stella to a niteclub.

Remember walking past there aged 15 (1968) or so and a man had been thrown down the steps by bouncers and was lying in a pool of blood. His (wife?) was shouting 'You didn't have to do that to him!' First aid was not being considered by her or the bouncers. Good Old New Brighton in the rare ould days.

My mate's Granddad and none taken!
I think he was there in the 70's.

Was the doorman Scottish & called Bob?

My dad used to work there in the 70's (not as a bouncer!) hence the interest

His name was Joe and I think he was from Yorkshire originaly

That was the Tudor, I think.

Yes it was on the junction of Rowson Street but not Virginia road. It was the bit of Wellington Road that everyone thinks is Virginia Road. Actually Wellington Road once went as far as Balmoral Road before they named that bit Virginia Road. Perhaps they found a virgin living there....if they did she's gone now.

She definitely wasn't in the Late Extra

But I think I met her one dark & stormy night when I came out of The Creep Inn!

I lived opposite the entry that led down to the Creep Inn. Many virgins may have gone down there but few if any came out.
