Today I be mainly cooking casseroled shin beef with parmesan mashed tates and cabbage, simple but very effective.

Rocks, what does quorn really taste like? I've seen the ads that say how much less saturated fat it's got than say beef mince, but I've also seen the veggie 'bacon' in tesco and it looked like plasticine! There's a chance I could be swayed if the mince is ok though. Do you know what quorn sausages taste like?

He loved things like dripping sandwiches, fry ups, pies, had 1 small can of Mackies every night, was an above knee amputee & still very active. Served in the Army during WWII & lived on whatever they were given (which wasn't healthy food, especially when in Egypt). He got a medal off the Queen for 50 years service in Levers without a day off sick (he lied to them about his age when he started working there). He was 75 when he died.

My friends fiance was a keep fit fanatic, never smoked, didn't drink, didn't do drugs and ate an incredibly healthy diet. He was 28 when he dropped dead on the doorstep!

When your number is up, it's up - end of. It doesn't matter if you are a health nut or a fast food junkie.

And just to keep it on topic - nothing, because I can't eat at the moment smile

Your friends fiancé was unlucky and your Dad probably would have lived longer without all those things.

I'm glad to hear there is someone on Wiki with more understanding of the human body that hundreds of scientists and researchers though. Where did you study and how did you gain such an insight?

Weight off my mind knowing I can go and drink myself silly every night and inject myself with heroin whilst stuffing pork pies in my gob without worrying. Phew, I'll die when my number is up regardless.

Thanks Wench!!

The Quorn mince is actually really nice. I wasn't sure about it at first but the low fat aspect appealed, especially as I struggle with meat at the moment (most food at the moment really). I'd liken it to turkey mince. Once it's bulked out with other ingredients, you don't really notice any difference to be honest. The knack is not to stir it too much as it breaks down really easily. That's about the only negative I found with it smile The burgers and sausages are really nice too, as are the "chicken" fillets.

Thanks for that Wench, it's nice to get a positive response to a post grin I'm difinitely going to try the mince and if I like it I'll try the other stuff too. But I'll never be persuaded into trying the veggie bacon!

Hope you're ok with you saying you can't eat much at the moment.

the mince is fine but the chicken chunks are lovely the thing with the quorn is that even tho its frozen you really dont need to cook it you just heat it up in the micro then add it to what ever you want, the sausages are an acquired taste but the linda macartney ones are lovely. iv not had quorn bacon so couldnt comment, if i was you try the chicken bits first as you can add them to curry, soup, omelet, rice etc and at under £2 a bag its worth having in the freezer
