A SUSPECTED paedophile pensioner from Merseyside has gone on the run.

Merseyside police today appealed for help in finding Norman Robert Brennan, from Netherton.

The 65-year-old faces a string of allegations of sexual abuse offences dating back to the 1990s.

He disappeared while on bail awaiting sentencing on a £120,000 fraud.

But he also stands charged with 20 allegations of child sex abuse.

It is understood his home at Fleetwoods Cottages, Fleetwoods Lane, has been put up for sale after it was repossessed due to payment failures.

Police said the search for him would extend across the country and abroad if necessary.

The child sex abuse allegations include a dozen of indecent conduct.

He also faces several further allegations of sexual abuse including inciting sexual activity and being involved in sexual activity with a child.

Last autumn he pleaded guilty at Liverpool crown court to seven combined charges of council tax, housing benefit and jobseeker’s allowance fraud – totalling almost £120,000.

The fraud prosecution arose out of an investigation by Sefton council who grew suspicious of social security benefits being paid out.

They discovered Brennan had created claims by using his brother’s details without his knowledge.

Brother Leslie Brennan had been living in Germany for almost 30 years at the time of the offences.

During investigations, Leslie Brennan confirmed that signatures appearing on forms were not his.

Norman Brennan was given bail when sentencing was adjourned but has since fled.

A police spokesman said: “The police are actively seeking the location of this male.”
